Opening Comments

Last Saturday night I attended a very special celebration.  For the last 10 years, Ms. Constance has been the moderator for the Louisville Munch Bunch.  Now, anyone that has had any organizational office knows what it takes to hold an office for a year, but can you imagine ten years?  And if she knew she could not be there, then she found someone else to host the munch for that month.  That is quite an accomplishment.
During those ten years, can you imagine the number of people that she has impacted and shaped within the leather community?  All the people she has welcomed into the leather community, and then watched them as they grew.  All the influence she has had.  That is quite an accomplishment.

I am fortunate enough to say that I have worked along side of Ms. Constance.  She is a pillow of strength, and has numerous connections through her many years of service.  She has been able to answer questions, sometimes before I have formulated them.  She has been a wonderful sounding board and an inspiration.  All I can say is “THANK YOU” for everything.  For me personally and all the work you have done for our community.

Kentucky LeatherSir

By Sir Rick Mora

I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself to many people in Kentucky and surrounding states.  My name is Sir Rick Mora and I am Kentucky Leather Sir 2007, and the first Kentucky Leather Sir.  That is a high honor for me, and a high standard to set for all future Leather Sirs, and I believe I am up to that task.  And yes, the above picture is truly me, not the picture that was included in last month’s edition of The Letter with the press release.

I thought I would write about what it means to be a titleholder and its meaning to me.  First, I am very proud to represent the State of Kentucky not only in the next level of competition, but also throughout my title year and for that matter the rest of my life.  During this title year, I would like to help educate and expand our leather community throughout the State.  I might be from Louisville, but I want to represent the whole state.  If there is anyway I can help out with some event, please let me know.

One of my goals is to bring more people that have an interest or curiosity about the leather lifestyle into the fold.  Many people may have the interest, but do not know how to learn more about our lifestyle.  I would like to educate and teach what it means to be a leather man.  Your sexual activity or your preferred sexual position does not matter.  What does matter is ensuring you are doing things safely and correctly.

Everyone realizes that just putting on a pair of leather chaps and a vest does not make a leather man.  There are many traditions within the leather community that were started many years ago by the Old Guard.  With time the Old Guard as become the New Guard, and within my lifetime might become the New Era Guard.  It is important to keep some core traditions in place, and the only way that happens is by instructing people on Protocols of the leather world.  I see many curious folks who need a basic understanding and education as to the leather lifestyle and BDSM.  I would like to further their basic understanding.

I am offering to anyone out there that has an interest to come out and learn.  There are many fetishes associated with the leather lifestyle and if there is not a good basic understanding of the Protocol and methods of play then someone can get seriously hurt. In Louisville we have a group called the Trailblazers that meet on the second Saturday night of the month at Woodys’.  They offer education and information to the leather lifestyle. I am also planning on putting together a small group of men that we can discuss and teach those into the gay lifestyle of leather and play that is safe. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact the Louisville Trailblazers or myself.

Club Night

& $

Following Russ’ seminar, we will have a boot black available for leather and boot cleaning.  And I hear their will be a 50/50 raffle also.  Come out to Woodys’ and get the boots cleaned and maybe win a little Halloween dough.

MACC Fall Meeting

At the end of September the MACC Fall Meeting was held in New Orleans.  Thanks go out to all the Crescent City Outlaws, yes that includes you Kevin, for a great job.  We had a blast all weekend.

One other bit of MACC news, elections were held for MACC Vice President and Secretary, and the new officers are:  Kevin Chestnut as MACC Vice President, and Donald Palmore as MACC Secretary. The new officer next official meeting will be in Minnesota at the Storm Patrol’s Spring Run.
